This painting won a prize in our local watercolor show. I had taken photos in Syracusa several years ago, and always knew I'd paint those boats. I love the varied prows and colors, and the fact that they're not merely picturesque, but utilitarian, used by local fishermen. Their stowed gear is evident and adds interesting shapes and colors.
