Poppy
Poppies
grow in temperate climes around the world in a profusion of
colors and a purplish-black base. They are often used as symbols
of sleep, since opium is made from their milky sap. They also
recall those lost in war, because they covered Flanders Fields
and WWI sites. They are used in dyes and medicines. The one
on this card grew near Siena, Italy.
